No photographs taken today. At midday I was driving along with the lights in the car on. It doesn’t inspire me for photography. I really need to get back into submitting photos to the 7DOS group on Flickr. I’ve let it lapse a bit whilst I’ve been on holiday.
The last week of the school holidays is a washout. The rain is pouring down. I’m in the Capital but heading home seems pointless as there is likely to be serious flooding en route. I’ll leave it until the weekend.
No more cycling for me. When I get home, the good bike will be put away as I’m going into hospital for yet another shoulder op (it is subluxing half a dozen times a day and I need it sorted.) The surgeon recently described me as being quite disabled the way it is. Somehow this did not go down well with someone I know who is really disabled. So much for solidarity. 
I go in on 1st September. Strange to think that I’ll not be on the touring bike until next Easter (I use another bike over the winter.)
Before that date I have to sort out home, set up school for me being away for a month or two and get my head around the prospect of another op in the hospital with the worst Cdiff record in Scotland (Vale of Leven). Hopefully I’ll be at full strength by Christmas.
I had a really gruelling cycle today in the Lammermuir hills. Some of the hills were 17% which is too much for me. I did enjoy getting out on the bike but I’m pretty knackered.
Cycling has been curtailed by the rain. I was hoping to get away for a few more days and do some cycle touring but tonight the rain is torrential with many flood warnings in place.
I’ve come over to Edinburgh for a few days instead. Today we took a trip down to the Dancing Light Gallery near West Linton (see the link on the sidebar). J fell in love with a statue of an otter but the price tag was beyond us.
Recently I was hit for a renewal fee for this blog. It’s not a huge amount of money but when I consider that I will soon be asked for money to renew my domain name and to renew my Flickr account, it all begins to seriously add up. I’ve decided not to renew the www.dickedie.co.uk address as I get 500 pieces of spam a day to that address. I’ve also decided to close down this blog. My email address will continue to be my dickedie(at)gmail.com address.
I have taken out a free wordpress.com blog and for the next wee while I will make the two sites mirror each other. Once my brother has worked out how to post the archive of this blog onto the new one, I’ll stop using this one.
